WOW! What a fabulous educational trip to the Maldives I have just been on, feeling very lucky right now!
One word – Amazing!
I honeymooned at LUX* Maldives 2 years ago so when the opportunity arose to visit several other islands with LUSSO I was very much looking forward to comparing them all. The trouble is they are all beautiful and all so different making it hard to compare so how do you choose? The answer is you come to me because now I have the first hand knowledge to ensure I choose the right island to match you requirements.
I was pleasantly surprised by the weather. At this time of year I was expecting high humidity and lots of rain but we had glorious weather throughout.
Another pleasant surprise was how well some islands cater for families offering 2 to 3 bedroom beach/ water villas.
One of my highlights has to be seeing a turtle whilst snorkelling which was a first for me!
To give you a snap shot I visited 8 islands in 7 days and 5 of which I have highlighted below…
Baros
– Extremely welcoming hospitality with excellent customer service – Nice relaxing barefoot lounge/bar – Beautifully furnished rooms, detached beach or water villas – Great house reef – able to snorkel from the beach – Great sand bank available for private dinners – High standard of cuisine – You feel very at home here

Anantara Kihavah
– Beautiful island, one of the best beaches – wide and soft sand around the whole island – Romantic beach villas, perfect for couples with good privacy – Excellent cuisine and dine around offered when on half board – Underwater restaurant is pretty spectacular – available at a supplement – Very nice spa with very experienced therapists

Six Senses Laamu
– ‘Down to earth’ Quirky, rustic island, very different to others but absolutely loved it. – Most public spaces are over water, felt like a luxury water-world – Recommend the water villas, lots of outdoor space with interesting outdoor bathroom – Perfect island for those into water-sports, particularly surfing – Excellent house reef, can snorkel from the main jetty – 4 restaurants offered for dine around when on half board – Wellness and exercise classes available so plenty to do on this island

Maalafushi by Como
– Stunning island and lagoon with exceptional service – Recommend the Water suites, luxurious, polished feel and comes with a private pool – Cuisine is extremely good, healthy well-being promoted, special menu called Como Shambhala – Another excellent house reef, snorkel from main jetty – saw 2 turtles here! – Shallow crystal clear lagoon perfect for SUP and other water-sports – New comfy bikes assigned to your room to get around the island

Soneva Fushi
– Shabby Chic, “no news no shoes” but complimentary Wi-fi for those who cannot switch off completely! – This is your luxury Robinson Crusoe Island with 55 rooms, suites and villas hidden amidst jungle-like greenery, the majority have their own private pools – Dining is a gourmet’s delight, barefoot under the stars, over water at Bar (a) Bara or in the Fresh in the Garden Restaurant set high above the jungle on a tree-top platform – Check out the Ice-cream and Chocolate room! – The Den will be the new Kid’s Club due to open soon.
